Peace Building and Social Development

Sector Overview

Armed conflict destroys not only local infrastructure but also tears apart local community ties and increases mutual distrust and hatred.

To prevent and settle conflicts and establish peace and harmony among and within the countries, the role of development assistance is of vital importance. Aside from military and political measures such as preventive diplomacy, eliminating the gap between rich and poor, and reducing inequality for opportunities should also be achieved.

In post-conflict countries and regions, we assist in reconstruction of conflict-affected countries through support for heavily affected vulnerable people and the recovery and improvement of the weakened administrative function by conflict.

In complying with the complex needs of the conflict-affected countries and regions, we provide comprehensive consulting services by offering full use of our multi-sectoral expertise and aim to establish an innovative supporting model in the peace-building sector where the volume of Japanese official development assistance (ODA) is expected to be further expanded.
